Matteo Tampone - Rock Face

In the artistic realm I study the processes of oxidation by exploring Time’s Ways. Reaction and transformation of surfaces, colours that change over a temporal pathway challenging the speed of time almost as if to underline how rapidly our world is changing.

RESEARCH

In my various attempts, matter becomes autonomous, regardless of how I model it or give a structure. A new surface and texture are formed, a new coloration appears independent of my intervention.

My personal involvement with the process is the key to its final form.

What are we speaking of here? Matter, form, shape, surface, texture and color: the same ingredients for an industrial object.

But not only. “Matter” is charming, attractive, sensual, strong, unique. His aesthetic has a special significance for me.

Thanks to technology I am able to emphasize the speed of time, so rapidly as to alter my object, conceived moments before, into something that has been living for some time. An ambivalent process, simultaneously progressive and regressive. The perception is of an object both defined/undefined or undefined/defined.

My objects are unique, no two are equal. Yet I look for and find companies that are interested in developing an innovative process, stimulating a series of unexpected but profitable collaborations.

PHILOSOPHY

Having completed my major in graphic design and following my work as an industrial designer I felt the compelling need to confront myself with pure matter, in its original form so as to feel and communicate its soul.

Through my work I try to express this feeling and want to give it life using a narrative that I call Time’s Ways. I like to think that the final object is the synthesis of the story, a playful usage of time.

Matter is elaborated and I present it with my great respect for it.

As in a painting by VanGogh, the undefined traits of the figures vibrate in unison with our sensations, leaving to each the liberty to define and give meaning to the work.

This is my objective: to create and produce new emotions.

RICERCA
